Dr. Tobias Schwob, Head of Innovation Antimicrobial Technologies at Heraeus Precious Metals, was honored with the FARBE UND LACK // AWARD 2025 by the trade magazine of the same name. The award ceremony took place on September 19 at the coatings conference of the Coatings Chemistry Division of the German Chemical Society in Aachen.

The award-winning technical article “Radical against germs,” written together with Martin Danz, introduces the antimicrobial technology AGXX®. Heraeus Precious Metals' technology is based on a catalytic, long-lasting mechanism of action that is effective against all types of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, algae, and viruses. It does not involve the release of metals or harmful compounds into the environment and also offers decisive advantages in terms of regulatory compliance.

Compared to traditional technologies, AGXX offers a number of advantages and can be used in accordance with regulatory requirements both today and in the future. AGXX is already being used in various applications, including polymers, textiles, filters, paints, and coatings.

The FARBE UND LACK // AWARD has been presented for more than 35 years and is one of the most important awards in the German-speaking paint and coatings industry. The award recognizes technical articles that demonstrate technical excellence, innovative strength, and relevance for industrial applications. The winners are selected by a jury of experts and a reader survey.
