Independently of the feed used and the cracking conditions, pyrolytic gasoline is formed with a high content of aromatics and various concentrations of dienes and alkines. Through selective hydrogenation of these poly-unsaturated compounds a stable, high octane gasoline is achieved. Heraeus catalyst type K-02103 offers excellent activity and selectivity for this application in combination with low density and very high crush strength.
